Fear and Loathing by candlelight in the GROVE

Saint Louis, MO (April 4, 2011) – Sanctuaria, voted as  one of Saint Louis’ TOP 10 BEST NEW RESTAURANTS, hosted its second COCKTAILS BY CANDLELIGHT on March 28, 2011.  With only the flames of candles to light the restaurant, guests were sporting Hawaiian shirts and sunglasses “Fear and Loathing” style, the theme for the evenings event (based upon “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” by Hunter S. Thompson). AWARD WINNING CHEFS prepared a colorful buffet of pink tacos, “Gonzo” rice and adult fruit cocktail that were just a few of the featured selections served buffet-style.

Sanctuaria’s Mixologists, Matt Seiter and Joel Clark carefully crafted a cocktail menu to follow the evenings’ theme – with five amazing, all you can drink selections to choose from including “Too Weird to Live” (Ruskova Vodka, Pommeau, Hibiscus – Lime Syrup, Lime Juice) and “Too Rare to Die” (Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Lemon Juice, St. Germain, Chocolate Bitters, Douglas Fir Liqueur).

A portion of the evenings proceeds where donated to the Urban Studio Café – a non-profit cafe with a mission to foster a sense of strong community, creativity, knowledge and enrichment.

COCKTAILS BY CANDLELIGHT is a private event for members of Sanctuaria’s Exclusive Cocktail Club, as well as members of the United States Bartenders’ Guild and honored guests. The mission behind Cocktails by Candlight is to further the cocktail culture in Saint Louis by getting the members of the Cocktail Club aquainted with the USBG members – allowing them to expand and indulge their knowledge of cocktails and spirits.

The “GREAT BLACKOUT ON THE EVE OF 2011” inspired Cocktails by Candlelight. On New Year’s Eve, the power went out at Sanctuaria leaving 300 candles as the only source of light.  Sanctuaria’s guests were so delighted with the romantic ambiance that Cocktails by Candlelight will be a featured themed event on the last Monday of select months. A portion of the proceeds from every event will go to a local charity of choice.
