Saint Louis, MO (June 30, 2011) – Sanctuaria, voted as one of Saint Louis’ TOP 10 BEST NEW RESTAURANTS and recently nominated for the WORLD’S BEST COCKTAIL MENU for the prestigious Spirited Awards at Tales of a Cocktail, hosted its third COCKTAILS BY CANDLELIGHT on June 27, 2011. “Paradise Found: Pig Roast and Tiki Revival” was the theme of the evening so guests and staff sported their best island gear accented by lei’s, grass skirts and coconut bikini tops that were handed out upon arrival. Island paradise right in the heart of the Grove!
The patio was decorated with palm trees and lit by tiki torches with traditional music of the islands playing the background, while the restaurant was lit by candlelight keeping true to the candlelight tradition.

AWARD WINNING CHEFS prepared a buffet straight from the islands with a whole roasted pig that was carved to order as the main attraction, accented with grilled vegetable kabobs, roasted potatoes, bananas con Santiago and a wild berry salad.
Sanctuaria’s well-known Mixologists, Matt Seiter and Joel Clark really outdid themselves with a Paradise Found Cocktail menu, crafted special for the evening’s theme. Featuring five tiki-themed all you drink concoctions and an over-flowing punch bowl filled with Hanalei Rum Punch.
A portion of the evenings proceeds where donated to the Spot – youth partnering with community for social justice and health. The SPOT welcomes ALL youth, ages 13-24 and responds to their particular needs through a comprehensive model of health and social services.
COCKTAILS BY CANDLELIGHT is a private event for members of Sanctuaria’s Exclusive Cocktail Club, as well as members of the United States Bartenders’ Guild and honored guests. The mission behind Cocktails by Candlelight is to further the cocktail culture in Saint Louis by getting the members of the Cocktail Club aquainted with the USBG members – allowing them to expand and indulge their knowledge of cocktails and spirits.
The “GREAT BLACKOUT ON THE EVE OF 2011” inspired Cocktails by Candlelight. On New Year’s Eve, the power went out at Sanctuaria leaving 300 candles as the only source of light. Sanctuaria’s guests were so delighted with the romantic ambiance that Cocktails by Candlelight will be a featured themed event on the last Monday of select months. A portion of the proceeds from every event will go to a local charity of choice.
